EDF Energy agrees energy saving technology deal with powerPerfector

EDF Energy, Britain’s largest producer of low carbon electricity and the largest supplier of power to British business, has signed an exclusive agreement with powerPerfector to provide its business customers with Voltage Power Optimisation (VPO) technology. EDF Energy’s customers who install the technology can benefit from a reduction in electricity bills and carbon emissions of up to 20 per cent.

As businesses seek to better manage their energy consumption, VPO technology will play a critical part in helping customers with energy, cost and carbon savings by efficiently optimising a site’s electricity supply. The technology will be available to all EDF Energy business customers. Already in operation over the last two years at multiple EDF Energy sites, the technology has proven to be extremely effective and reliable. Furthermore, there is no need for an upfront investment as the cost of supply and installation can be incorporated within customers’ energy bills.

Laurent Mineau, Manager of B2B Energy Services, EDF Energy said: “Our partnership with powerPerfector is a demonstration of our commitment to providing our customers with the latest innovative technology to help them meet their energy saving objectives. VPO technology has an unblemished reliability in its many thousands of installations over 16 years and we’re pleased to offer our customers yet another way of helping them to manage their energy more efficiently – and reduce their bills.”

Angus Robertson, CEO of powerPerfector, said: “This agreement demonstrates EDF Energy’s commitment to assisting UK Plc tackle climate change and they should be applauded for it. Our technology has saved over £70 million and 450,000 tonnes of carbon in the UK to date and will help EDF Energy’s business customers reduce their energy bills and meet their carbon reduction targets. It also highlights the major role that VPO, described as the ‘Green Holy Grail’ by the Financial Times, has to play in reducing UK Plc and government’s costs through energy efficiency.”

The technology’s performance is also verified in compliance with the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP). This protocol confirms the energy savings delivered by efficiency projects and is current best practice for verifying energy results in commercial and industrial facilities.
