The most definitive report yet involving 2,500 scientists was released on Friday, it confirmed increased global temperatures and carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere higher than at any other time over the last 650,000 years. Not that I was in any doubt on Saturday afternoon, as I enjoyed an 'al fresco' lunch along with thousands of other Londoners.
No doubt the unseasonably warm winter so far will bring some short term financial relief, but the changing weather has an ominous feel to it with the knowledge that the costs will be felt somewhere else for sure.
(then again it could just be the forecast for snow making me shudder.)
queen mary uni
A leading light in the field of Energy Saving and Best Pratice within 'University Facility Management', is to install two further powerPerfector units this month.
This follows the phenomenal sucess of the original installation installed two years ago in the university's Library.

'At Queen Mary we installed a Powerperfector voltage optimisation unit in our main library rated at 210 kVA in 2004. This has worked extremely well with no problems and, as promised requiring no maintenance at all. The unit has paid for itself producing energy savings of around 12% . We are now progressing with two new installations in our Laws and IT buildings with some more planned in a later phase.'
John Elam, Facility Manager QMU

Other Universities which have or will be installing powerperfector units include Cambridge, Buckingham, L.S.E. St Andrews and Nottingham.
Several others are at site survey stage.
worldwide dispensers

An 830kVA powerPerfector unit was installed at DS Smith Plastics – Worldwide Dispensers in Merton, London, on 26th September 2006.
The powerPerfector unit has an optimisation setting of 7%, which was expected to yield savings in the region of 11.5%. This target has been substantially exceeded and electricity consumption has been reduced by 17.5%.
The improved efficiency can be put in terms of weekly consumption, when viewed in this format, the data shows a 16% drop in average weekly electricity consumption after installation of the powerPerfector.

The plant now uses an average of 72,280kWh per week, down from 84,297kWh before installation.
A FANTASTIC RESULT
hilton group
In their race to reduce their carbon footprint Hilton have installed 6 more powerPerfector units at four more hotels since Christmas; Hilton London Kensington, Hilton Croydon, Hilton St Anne’s Manor and The Trafalgar Central London.
As soon as results are available we will post them on our site.

Results are in from a further four pP installations that have confirmed average energy and cost saving of 15% whilst also reducing maximum demand at the sites by an average 12.8%.
The three powerperfected hotels are; Hilton Bracknell, Hilton Brighton Metropole and Hilton Glasgow.

Proof of results from their half hourly data can be view in case studies on our website
green heart
On Wednesday the 14th of February the Energy Team at Wigan County Council, in association with powerPerfector, will be hosting a Knowledge Sharing, Best Practice Day.
The event will focus on how best to address the challenges of carbon reduction and energy efficiency in buildings. This is an important opportunity to get a full understanding of the powerPerfector technology and to network with other LA’s who have been powerperfected. We are delighted that Martin Illingworth the Environment Manager from Land Registry, with case studies from over 22 sites, will also be presenting.
With a representative from DEFRA and presentations by Salix and the Carbon Trust to guide you through the procedure of loan/grant funding applications, it should be a very informative day.
Refreshments will be served upon arrival and the event will finish with a good lunch and networking opportunity.
If you would like to attend please email tanya@powerperfector.com by 4p.m. on Friday and she will forward all details.

school pupils
A wise investment for the future, as school pupils are to be taught about the effects of climate change as part of the school curriculum .
The task of sustainability is with the next generation, change is what this generation must achieve.
Having installed in two schools we are currently logging more for several Local Authorities.

For those SME's looking to get started on the road to CO2 reduction, there is some serious funding out there if you know where to look. Our Energy Consultants will be aware of a funding scheme that may be applicable to you, please ask the answer could be positive.

If you want to get fit and cut CO2 emissions by not driving, why not take advantage of the government's 'Ride to Work' scheme, a tax effective benefit for employers and employee's.
Get pedaling..
