e2 - Energy Solutions Expo the UK's fastest growing energy event is being held next week on 10th & 11th October at Olymipa, this will be the next big action packed event we will be attending and the last one for this calender year. So make sure you get along to see CEO Angus Robertson presenting our Voltage Optimisation Technology at 11.30 on the first day and taking questions immediately after.
This event is a great opportunity to get a 'one to one' with our pP energy consultants, and should you wish to arrange a meeting away from the stand, I will be taking bookings over the next two or three days, so please put in your requests early.

Look forward to seeing you at what promises to be an electric event!

Just short of 30 sites were powerPerfected last month including our own new office. Businesses as diverse as Banking, Bingo Halls, Council Offices, and Data Centres are all now benefiting from reductions in Carbon, Costs and Consumption.
Is your business missing something?

DEFRA
March of this year saw the start of the initial trials of powerPerfector's VPO technology within DEFRA. Logging of electrical data took place at five very different sites, each requiring careful analysis before recommendation of the appropriate unit size and optimization. DEFRA's Lancaster House Rural Payments Agency was chosen for the first installation of a pP280kVA with a -9% optimization. The early results, which showed considerable promise have since been confirmed with pre and post installation reports being prepared for each of the sites. We are delighted to report that savings for Lancaster House alone are:
Reduction in daily average consumption 15.2%
Projected annual carbon savings 15.4tonnes
Immediate consumption reduction 14.7%
Effective base load reduction 9.8%
Reduction in daily average maximum demand 16.3%

The fantastic success of these initial trials has resulted; not surprisingly, in the commitment below.

Anita Collier, Head of Built Environment Sustainability Team, Estates Division Defra Estates.
" Five powerPerfector units have now been installed on the Defra Estate since March 2007, with a further nine planned in October. We are already delighted with the savings delivered( more than150,000kwh and over 17,000kg of Carbon) and are planning to accelerate installation of powerPerfector throughout our estate."

transformer wires
Voltage Power Optimisation (VPO) allows companies for the first time to micro-manage their own supplies and achieve high savings.
The great advantage of VPO technology is that it ensures that all the electrical equipment on a site delivers close to its rated power, without the waste that over-voltage causes, and it is surprisingly easy to fit. VPO technology is now being installed at larger sites where HV is supplied (11,000V) and transformed to LV.
This is a growing area for us and Alex Rathmell with the HV Team will be responsible for all new enquires associated with these installations.
Those not sure of the advantages of powerPerfecting a transformer may wish to view the pdf on the down load page (click on quick links) which proves that simply reducing voltage with an HV tap down (if you own your HV/LV transformer) does not have the same effect and if you do this you are simply wasting an opportunity for up to four times greater savings.
The proof of this is in the fact that companies (Tesco Ireland, Hilton Hotels among others) are actually tapping up their HV transformers and carrying out a larger step-down with a VPO unit, this approach makes for a more efficient optimised supply and increases savings.

A pP 150kVA unit with -6% optimisation was installed on 23rd June at the Environmental Services Office (Council Office).
The Energy Manager of the London Borough of Sutton has reported on 2 weeks initial logging results confiming savings of 11% and 12% respectively - better than the 10% predicted.
We should have a full report available shortly.

cooper bussmann
Cooper Bussmann is a wholly owned division of Cooper Industries, with more than 90-year history of innovation, the company has set the standard for circuit protection in the global market, therefore, understandably, they demand the same quality of service and standards when looking for the right technology to optimise and protect their electrical infrastructure.
The installation of a pP560kVA will take place at the Burton-on-the-Wolds site in Leicestershire later this year.
The initial logging of the site which suffers from particularly high voltage indicates that healthy savings of 14% are predicted with a -9% optimisation.

powerPerfector continues to receive endorsements from an ever increasing diversity of end users. If you are interesting in a particular sector please enquire of the pP team, we may have a comparative case study for you to view that just hasn't made it to the web site yet.

'Making Business Sense of Energy',
Is a one day event being hosted by Reading Borough Council in the Victoria Hall, Reading Town Hall on Wed Oct 17th.
The seminar runs from 10am - 2pm with registration from 9.30am. powerPerfector's Angus Robertson has been asked to speak and present.

Whether you are 'chilling out' or 'dancing the night away' the chances are, you are doing so to the sounds of a powerPerfected DJ.
More Regent Inn Venue's are becoming energy efficient.
Shaftesbury Ave's Walkabout results from analysis pre and post installation are enough to get your feet tapping.
17.6% reduction in Maximum Demand.
17.5% reduction in kWh consumption.
19.8% reduction in base load consumption.
Now the only notably foot print will be that of the customer's, as Regent Inn's 'carbon foot print' is shrinking.

Jonathan Jeyes - Regent Inn's purchasing manager says
"The original rationale for the installation of powerPerfectors at 25 of our sites has proven to be correct after confirmation of of the financial and carbon savings from the post installation analysis."

Now that Climate Change is firmly on the agenda of all the political parties we can hopefully look forward to solid commitments to address the issues, though it was a little worrying to read a report by the International Environment Agency which estimated that during the years 1973-1990 energy efficiency savings were growing faster than the period 1990-2006, since Climate Change became a subject of hot political debate.
Lets hope the data going forward reverses this situation and the 'Green Washers' get exposed.
The fabled North West Passage is now open to shipping, no I am not rushing off to the book the cruise of a lifetime but it did make me wonder. If Artic sea ice is down to three million square kilometres - less than the previous record low of four million square kilometres in 2005, has anyone lost any land recently?
